Tiruttani is one among the six houses of Lord Muruga. It is a town panchayat which is located in Tiruvallur district. There are three hundred and Sixty five Steps in Tiruttani which represents every day in a year. A river is flowing in the northern part of the Tiruttani called River Nandhi. The water source for drinking purposes is taken from the pond “Thamaraikulamâ€. They are connected to the main cities by Roadways and Railways. The population of the town is 40,000 and the area of the town is 12.42 sq.km approximately. The temple is located on the hillock. . The two main features of Tiruttani are Saravana Poigai and Sapta Rishi Teertham. Saravana Poigai, is situated at the foothills of the Tiruttani hill and it is also called as Kumara Thirtha. Saravana Poigai is a holy place where people believe when taken bath can cure their disease both physically and mentally. Sapta Rishi Teertham is one of the loveliest gardens in the southern part of the hill. The time in which the place is open for visitors is 5.00 am to 9.00 pm. The important festivals celebrated here are Adi Kirthigai theppa thiruvilla, Shiva Rathiri and Shasti thiruvilla
